Announcing a new Social Responsibility Special Interest Group, for individuals currently engaged in voluntary or pro bono work, as well as those aspiring to become volunteers in the future.

EMCC UK is pleased to announce the establishment of a ground-breaking Special Interest Group (SIG) aimed at fostering a vibrant community of coaches, mentors and supervisors dedicated to volunteering and pro bono work. This exciting initiative seeks to celebrate and recognise the invaluable contributions made by people in our profession to society, while offering peer-to-peer support and sharing best practices.

We would like to invite all those who are interested in this initiative to take part in a short survey, so we can begin to understand the excellent work you are already doing.

The primary objective of the Social Responsibility SIG is to create and recognise a space for individuals currently engaged in voluntary or pro bono work, as well as those aspiring to become volunteers in the future. By encouraging the sharing of stories, collating best practices and providing a supportive environment, the SIG aims to highlight the significant societal impact made by coaches and mentors, while nurturing a diverse and inclusive community of practice.

One of the key goals of the SIG is to democratise coaching and mentoring, making these valuable services more accessible to a wider range of people. Through open discussions and debates on societal issues, the SIG will empower coaches and mentors to explore the intersection between their professions and broader social challenges. By embracing a diverse range of practitioners, the initiative will strive to broaden the reach and impact of coaching and mentoring.

Heading this transformative SIG is Paul Smith, an esteemed leader in the coaching and mentoring industry, supported by the President of EMCC UK, Rachael Hanley-Browne, and a team of dedicated EMCC volunteers. The group, chaired and coordinated by EMCC UK, warmly welcomes coaches, mentors, supervisors, leaders, and specialists responsible for coach or mentor volunteering in their organisations to participate and contribute. The SIG leader, Paul Smith, says:

‘This is an exciting opportunity for us to collate, encourage and recognise the wonderful pro bono work coaches, mentors and supervisors are doing across the UK, so that we can begin to measure and scale the social impact we make as a profession.’
