Mark Ellery: ‘Extending the reach and diversity of our profession’

Mark Ellery: ‘Extending the reach and diversity of our profession’

28 June 2020

We welcomed three new members to the EMCC UK Board this summer. Mark Ellery, our new Development Director, introduces himself here, and also see introductions by Claire Davey and Paul Crick.

I am delighted to join EMCC UK as Development Director and be able to help shape and drive the future of our organisation. I believe coaching and mentoring require a strong and effective voice to promote best practice, and to be an evangelist for the profession. To achieve that aim requires a clear strategy and effective planning, and I look forward to bringing my experience and skills to bear.

The demand for coaching and mentoring is higher than ever, and in particular with the generation entering the world of work or early-in-career. I am particularly interested in how we can use technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile applications to extend the reach and diversity of coaching and mentoring and better democratise our profession.

In my role as Development Director, I also have responsibility for our relationships with other industry bodies and membership organisations. I want to understand how those relationships support our membership, both individuals and organisations, and I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

I will be working with my colleagues to refine and develop our member proposition to ensure that we continue to provide the services and resources that you value, and that support your coaching and mentoring practice. Your feedback and suggestions will be warmly received.
